Anindita Phukan
Anindita Phukan, an alumnus of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Karnataka, India specialises in corporate and commercial laws with focus on strategic/venture capital/ private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions (domestic, foreign inward and outbound), joint ventures (domestic, foreign inward and outbound), technology and media, infrastructure and employment related issues. Anindita has around 30 years of experience in advising clients across a cross section of industries on investments and divestment strategies, acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial contracts, technology collaboration and licensing, employment issues, etc.
Prior to co-founding Altum Law, Anindita has held positions in ICICI Limited (now ICICI Bank Limited) and leading Indian law firms: J. Sagar Associates, AZB and Partners, Poovayya & Co., Phukan & Associates, Khaitan & Co and Tempus Law Associates.
Anindita regularly finds mention in national and international legal journals and blogs on matters relating to her work and is frequently invited to national institutions and events to speak on various topics of academic and current legal interest. Also, encouraged and enthused by the response to her teaching and mentoring sessions, Anindita has now combined her love for the law and passion for teaching/mentoring and spends considerable time with young entrepreneurs, peers and industry veterans in sharing and learning. Anindita is also taking small steps to understand sustainable education and entrepreneurship, preservation of indigenous cultures and nature conservation (Anindita is currently pursuing personal projects in Assam, India and Meghalaya, India). Anindita also focuses on social impact causes through her family trust, The Dr. Amrit Chandra Phukan Trust (the Ami Foundation) and Phukan & Associates, Thought Leadership and contributing to the entrepreneurial ecosystem as a mentor and advisor (including as a member of boards of advisors) based on her experiences with the Cherie Blair Foundation For Women: Mentor (Master Cohort): WEAVE: Mentoring Women in Business Programme, the Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER, India), the Margdarshak Advisory (North East, India), Assam Startup-the Nest (Assam, India) and the Imphal Angels (Manipur, India). Anindita also assists several entities including the Concern® India Foundation as an external member of complaints committees set up in accordance with the provisions of The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 [India].
Anindita is a member of Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh (All India Practice Rights).
